An AS 2047 certificate is often treated as a yes-or-no question. It is not. The document lists the products, sizes and design wind pressures it covers, and that list, not the series name on a brochure, is what decides whether a proposed window or door is covered. This guide explains how to read it.
Updated: 13 October 2026When a buyer asks for “certified aluminium windows”, the useful follow-up is: certified for which products, in which sizes, and to which design wind pressure? A StandardsMark certificate under AS 2047 answers those questions through its Schedule. The Schedule is the part of the document that lists the specific models, the maximum sizes and the pressures each model is covered for.
Quick answer
The certificate. Australia RS Doors & Windows Pty Ltd is the named licence holder on StandardsMark certificate SMK40453, issued under AS 2047-2014, Windows and external glazed doors in buildings.
What it covers. The products identified in the certificate’s Schedule, within the listed models, maximum sizes and design wind pressures.
What it does not cover. Installation. The certificate addresses the product, not the work of installing it.
How to use it. Match the proposed product against the listed model and its limits, together with the opening schedule, glazing, site requirements and approved drawings.
Version check. An earlier SMK40453 document issued on 5 June 2023 showed an expiry date of 19 July 2025. The 2025 document and its Schedule supersede previously issued schedules.
1. What the certificate says
The current document for RS Doors & Windows carries the following details:
| Field | Value shown on the document |
|---|---|
| Licence holder | Australia RS Doors & Windows Pty Ltd |
| Certificate number | SMK40453 |
| Standard | AS 2047-2014, Windows and external glazed doors in buildings |
| Certification date shown | 1 August 2025 |
| Issue date shown | 1 August 2025 |
| Expiry date shown | 19 July 2030 |
These are the values printed on the document. They are stated here as shown, so that a quotation, a specification and the certificate can be compared against the same reference.
2. The Schedule is the operative part
The Schedule identifies the specific window and door models that are certified, the maximum sizes for those models, and the design wind pressures they are covered for. A series name on its own does not establish that every opening type, size or configuration in that series is covered.
That distinction matters on real projects. A project may use one series name across many openings, but the openings can differ in width, height, configuration, glazing make-up and exposure. The question is not whether the series is certified; it is whether the specific opening, in its specific size and configuration, is inside the listed limits.
3. What the certificate does not establish
- Installation compliance. The certificate covers the product. Installation is a separate scope, set out in the project quotation and terms.
- WERS ratings. Window Energy Rating Scheme results are separate evidence. This document does not establish them.
- Glass-specific evidence. Glass supplied for our systems is manufactured to AS/NZS 2208 for safety glazing and AS 4666 for insulating glass units by our glass supplier. That evidence sits alongside, not inside, the AS 2047 certificate.
- Every opening in a series. Coverage is defined by the listed model and its applicable limits, not by the series name.
4. How to check a proposed product
The practical check runs in one direction: from the proposed opening to the document, not from the document to the opening.
- Take the opening schedule for the project, with the proposed system and operation for each opening.
- Match each proposed product to the model listed in the Schedule.
- Confirm the size is inside the listed maximum, and the design wind pressure covers the site exposure.
- Confirm the glazing make-up and any thermal, bushfire, acoustic or exposure requirement is supported by documentation for that configuration.
- Where installation is in scope, keep the installation responsibilities separate in the quotation.
Where a configuration sits outside the listed limits, or where the requirement is not covered by the document, that should be resolved in writing before the order is confirmed rather than assumed to be covered.
5. Version discipline
An earlier SMK40453 document, issued on 5 June 2023, showed an expiry date of 19 July 2025. The 2025 document and its Schedule supersede previously issued schedules. When a specification or a contract cites this certificate, it should cite the 2025 document, and the current PDF on our certification page is the reference we work from.
Two references are useful when checking the underlying requirements: the AS 2047 standard itself, and the Australian Glass and Glazing Association’s guidance on windows and glazing.
Who holds the AS 2047 certificate SMK40453?
Australia RS Doors & Windows Pty Ltd is the named licence holder on StandardsMark certificate SMK40453.
What does SMK40453 cover?
It covers the products identified in its Schedule under AS 2047-2014, Windows and external glazed doors in buildings, within the listed models, maximum sizes and design wind pressures.
Does the certificate cover installation?
No. The certificate covers the product. It does not cover installation, which is set out separately in the project quotation and terms.
Is every product in a series covered?
Not necessarily. A series name does not establish that every opening type, size or configuration in that series is covered. The proposed product should be checked against the listed model and its applicable limits.
What dates are shown on the current certificate?
The document shows a certification date of 1 August 2025, an issue date of 1 August 2025, and an expiry date of 19 July 2030.
Is there an older version of this certificate?
Yes. An earlier SMK40453 document issued on 5 June 2023 showed an expiry date of 19 July 2025. The 2025 document and its Schedule supersede previously issued schedules.
Does the certificate establish WERS ratings?
No. WERS ratings are separate evidence and are not established by this AS 2047 document.
How should a specification cite this certificate?
It should cite the 2025 document by its certificate number, SMK40453, and the Schedule that applies to the proposed products.
